What is GDPR and Why you should worry about it.



GDPR abbreviated for General Data Protection Regulation. If you are in marketing domain then you have surely heard this term.

WHAT IS GDPR


The General Data Protection Regulation is the name of European Union Data Privacy Law. It will be come into force on 25th of May 2018. 

If you are in marketing and Internet industry then probably you will get the traffic or you have the customers from European Union. So this guide is for you.(Not take this as legal advice)

The GDPR is come into force because of the irregularity in user data mining and processing. Marketing companies get the private data of users such as email id, name and contact number for one work and then Process the data for another work even sell their personal data for profit.  

That kind of marketing tactics now not work with GDPR. 

If a user subscribe your newsletter and give you its email id. Then you can only send him newsletter not the promotional garbage. 

If you wants to send newsletter with promotional email then you should describe it accordingly. 

Thus, GDPR will break some traditional way of marketing and data processing.

This regulation is applicable to all companies which has the user base of European Union nation. It doesn't matter where the consumer resides. If he is from European union then he can sue you If you found guilty against GDPR.

Penalty Driven :-

If a company found guilty or disobey the rules then it will be penalized. The Punishment can 20 million Euros or up to 4 percent of their annual global turnover. In some cases, Penalty will be less. Thus companies will follow the guidelines due to strict penalty.

Simplified Consent :-

The consent will as simple as possible and easy to understand And a user if he wants to get rid of then he can do it easily.
